Apply Creativity Generously

One trait that I’ve found to be essential when deciding to live your best life is creativity. This probably has something to do with the concept of fostering a certain mindset where inspiration meets problem solving and results in a deep sense of fulfillment. Or perhaps it has more to do with the very core of what it means to create, that is, to bring something into existence.

When we generate an original piece of art, or script of code, or, I would imagine, when one generates a child, whenever we decide to produce a special new thing that we’re into, we celebrate individual nature and practice being authentically “me”. When we create, we are expressing our imagination, when we express ourselves, we feel satisfaction, when we are fulfilled, we are living our best life.

Woodworking has been a passion of mine for a long time. I enjoy the entire process, from finding special pieces that speak to me, roughing out the structure as the natural shape allows, to fine sanding and polishing the new specimen.

This particular hobby is time consuming, but I try to carve out time to start new projects, work ongoing ones, and finish the old because I appreciate the emotional benefit from the pure act of creating.

It’s not the end product that matters, it’s the frame of mind we enter and encourage when we are being creative that is important. Heck, even writing in this blog fits the bill of planning, problem solving, and fulfillment.

So, may this be a sign of inspiration to deliberately exercise your ability to find beauty in your own expressive acts. Focus on the things that bring you joy, as that tends to be a sign that you’re doing it right!
